A holiday apartment in South Tyrol for your winter holiday

A skiing holiday in Vipiteno/Sterzing and the surrounding area

No less than three ski areas are situated very close to Vipiteno/Sterzing and therefore your holiday apartment in South Tyrol:

  • Monte Cavallo/Rosskopf ski area (bottom station approx. 5 km away)
  • Racines/Ratschings-Giovo/Jaufen ski area (bottom station approx. 15 km away)
  • Ladurns ski area (bottom station approx. 16 km away)

For you this means: 53 superbly prepared kilometres of slopes distributed over three variety-packed ski areas, toboggan runs down to the valley, ski schools and ski hire as well as outstanding eating establishments up the mountain and in the valley.

A ski bus takes you from your holiday apartment in Maria Trens (South Tyrol) directly to the nearest ski area. As a result you enjoy the wintry scenery and action-packed fun in the snow in a totally relaxed way without your own car.

Other magical ski areas are situated near Bressanone/Brixen (Plose, Gitschberg-Jochtal), in Val Pusteria/Pustertal (Plan de Corones/Kronplatz) and in the Dolomites (e.g. Gardena/Gröden and Obereggen). Your holiday apartment at “der bircher” in South Tyrol is therefore the perfect starting point if you are looking for a change when skiing. Exploring a new ski area every day is really great fun! You definitely should not miss the Dolomites in particular with their spectacular panoramic slopes. The world-famous Sellaronda, the circuit around the Piz Boè/Sellastock on skis, is one of the greatest highlights. You only move by lifts and over slopes on this ski circuit and return to your starting point in Gardena/Gröden or in Val Badia/Gadertal at the end of the day.

Skiing & Winter Activities

Enjoying nature with cross-country skiing

Anyone who likes to get a bit closer to nature and is looking for the perfect endurance training, will find their happiness on the cross-country skiing trails. Cross-country skiing is an excellent cardiovascular workout, which works all parts of the body and has a comparatively low risk of injury. You enjoy the scenery and do something good for your physical fitness.

Very popular cross-country skiing areas are situated nearby:

  • Ridanna/Ridnaun cross-country skiing centre

Wintry Val Ridanna/Ridnauntal is real paradise for winter sports enthusiasts. The valley is considered to have reliable snow and the trails are highly professionally prepared for competitions regularly. Roughly 20 km of trails await you here. Equipment hire and shop provides you with cross-country skis, boots and poles as required.

Skiing & Winter Activities

Tobogganing fun for all ages

We have even lost count of the many toboggan runs nearby. One highlight though is surely Italy’s longest floodlit toboggan run on the Monte Cavallo/Rosskopf. It is 10 km long and can be reached with the Monte Cavallo/Rosskopf cable car. The run is regularly floodlit in the evening for spectacular moonlight tobogganing! There are of course also toboggans for hire. An experience for all sledging fans.

Skiing & Winter Activities

Even more opportunities

Anyone who simply prefers hiking through the winter wonderland getting out and about on snow shoes, going ice skating or setting off on a ski tour, will also find what they are looking for in Valle Isarco/Eisacktal. The natural wintry scenery is so diverse that there is something for practically everyone, from beginners to ambitious winter athletes.

Look forward to a fantastic time at “der bircher” and in your beautiful holiday apartment in South Tyrol at the heart of winter sports. We will be happy to advise you when it comes to selecting a suitable tour or the ideal winter sports area.
